If you didn't see our last blog, you missed the federal ruling which made it unconstitutional to require an atheist to complete a 12 step rehab program. I am all in favor of 12 step programs. Personally, I think they are a great way to stay clean and sober. The point is they are, in fact based on faith in a higher power. And for most, that is God. Non 12 step rehab programs understand that 12 step programs are not treatment. And the odds are a serious drug addict and or alcoholic does not want to hear that God is the answer, even it is true.
Many drug and alcohol rehab centers offer the traditional 12 step programs to conquer alcohol and drug abuse, but many today are finding them ineffective. Malibu Horizon offers non 12 step treatment program to its patients who prefer an alternative to 12 step programs. To provide effective treatment, Malibu Horizon makes available intensive 1-on-1 therapy for its patients who suffer from alcohol or substance abuse. Psychologists take patients on therapeutic outings to get the patient familiar with living sober in the real world, providing minimal shock and maximum comfort when patients finish the program. A gym, yoga and a walks on the beach are at right at the feet of Malibu Horizon patient's, giving them an exclusive recovery full of relaxation. Equine, art, music and relaxation therapy is offered to patients, as well as guided mediation.
Once drinking alcohol reaches a point to where it negatively impacts your life, it then becomes a problem. Drinking isn't abnormal social behavior by all means, but excessive drinking can turn into a problem when it begins to hurt your life and others. Having a drinking problem can affect your family, social life, career, and even create financial problems. Most of all, it can affect your health. Chronic drinkers have heavily consumed alcohol for many years, whereas situational drinkers develop the issue from a "situational" factor that has occurred in their life. A drug treatment center can help get your life back on track, whether you have a chronic drinking problem or a situational drinking problem.
